When I was younger I promised myself that if anything like this happened, to honor those you marched before me, I would not sit on the sidelines. Now I have the opportunity, in one of the biggest and most influential cities in the world, to march and be active about something I care so deeply about. I refuse to be silent in this moment. I want to set an example and be a part of something bigger than just myself. I'm marching so my nieces don't have to worry about stuff like this. I march for those who wish they could be here marching. I march on the street of 5th Ave, where so many have marched before because love trumps hate.
